This will display an "F2" on the display, then press the Start/Cancel/Reset button again to reset the unit. After the attachment has been changed, press your Attachment SELECTOR button to select the correct mode and press your Start/Cancel/Reset button again to restart the process from the beginning.
  3. How long do I have to use the water in the Spray Bottle before it reverts to normal tap water?
You have 15-minutes to use the water in the spray bottle after the Oxyshield® processing cycle is complete. Your lotus® Sanitizing system counts down for you and lets you know when the super oxygenated water has reverted back to ordinary tap water.
  4. What type of water should I use with my lotus® Sanitizing system?
Please use cold municipal treated or equivalent or bottled water ONLY.
  5. What is ORP?
ORP is a term used frequently in the water treatment & food processing industry. ORP stands for Oxidation-Reduction Potential and is a measure of the cleanliness of the water & its ability to breakdown contaminants. The higher the ORP is the more efficient contaminant removal.
  6. What is the ORP level of the lotus® Sanitizing System?
The lotus® Sanitizing System delivers an ORP in excess of 800. At an ORP of 800 all microbial life is destroyed and sterilization is achieved.
  7. How do I know if the unit is working and generating Oxyshield® super oxygenated water?
Your lotus® Sanitizing System was in development for well over three years. The only way that the percentage indicator on the display can reach 100% is if the water has been fully oxygenated. It is impossible for the indicator to reach 100% without the Oxyshield® infusion process being complete.
  8. Why can't I use the water in the spray bottle after 15-minutes?
Your lotus® Sanitizing System safely infuses ordinary tap water with super oxygenated water (O3) by utilizing Oxyshield® technology to force oxygen molecules (O2) to take on an additional oxygen atom (O1). The unstable nature of super oxygen is what delivers the sanitizing power of lotus® and most of the super oxygen reverts back to oxygen after approximately 15 minutes.
  9. How do I care for my lotus® Sanitizing System?
Your lotus® Sanitizing System is self-cleaning and as such caring for your new system has never been easier. As your attachments cleanse them selves every time you generate Oxyshield® super oxygenated water; you never have to clean them. However, if you wish to give any attachments an additional clean, feel free to do so by placing them on the top drawer of your dishwasher or use mild soap and luke warm water to wash and then rinse thoroughly. - Always unplug your lotus® Sanitizing System prior to cleaning. - Only a damp cloth should be used to wipe down your unit. - Never immerse your lotus® Sanitizing System in water or any other liquid for cleaning. - Never use abrasives, detergents or strong cleaning agents.
  10. What is the processing time of the lotus® Sanitizing System in each of the modes?
The lotus® Sanitizing system will process a minimum of approximately three minutes up to a maximum of eight minutes in the wavy lines selector mode (generally for use with the Spray Bottle Attachment only) ® Sanitizing System will process from approximately four minutes up to a maximum of eight minutes in the wavy lines/arrow selector mode (generally for use with the Multi-purpose Bowl Attachment, Toothbrush Attachment, Baby Bottle Attachment and the All Purpose Attachment).
  11. What is the number displayed during processing on the display on the lotus® Sanitizing System?
The numbers displayed are the percentage of processing completed, starting with 0% and increasing incrementally by 1% until 100% is reached. The processing is complete once it reaches 100%.
  12. When the processing is completed the display shows "15 Min" or "2 Min". What does this mean?
The spray bottle contains Oxyshield® enriched water, which can be used for 15 minutes. Once the 15-minute period is over the water in the spray bottle has reverted back to normal tap water. The spray bottle should be re-filled and processing cycle started again. The display will show "2 Min" when using the Multi-purpose bowl mode. The maximum bacteria and toxin reduction is achieved when your fruits and vegetables are left in the unit for the additional "2 Min". (Applicable to the knife/toothbrush attachment and baby bottle attachment as well)
  13. Can I use the lotus® Sanitizing System on voltage other than 120V 60mhz?
The lotus® Sanitizing System is designed for use in North America and may only be used on 120v 60mhz ratings. The unit will not function with 220V, or on 50Hz.

  25. Do I cut my vegetables before processing?
The fruits and vegetables should be placed in the lotus® Sanitizing System whole. The purpose of the lotus® Sanitizing System is to remove the harmful bacteria and pesticides from the skin of your fruits and vegetables. Many fruits and vegetables are grown at ground level and the outer skin may be contaminated. The contamination is automatically transferred to the edible portion of your fruits and vegetables by the knife when you cut them. Therefore always process your fruits and vegetables whole for the most effective sanitizing.
  26. What types of fruits and vegetables should I use the lotus® Sanitizing System on?
The lotus® Sanitizing System can be used with all types of fruits and vegetables by either using the Multi-purpose Bowl attachment or the Spray bottle Attachment. It would be impossible for you to place a melon in the bowl whole, but to remove contaminants from the outer skin, process a Spray Bottle of water. Using the lotus® spray bottle attachment, saturate the outer skin and wipe clean with a lotus® cleaning cloth or a clean cloth.
  27. I want to process my meat, fish or poultry, how do I do this?
Please use the Multi-purpose bowl attachment and lid and fill to the max fill line with plain cold water. Place the Bowl Attachment on the lotus® Sanitizing System, select the proper mode and process the plain water. Once the system has reach "100%", remove the attachment, place on the countertop or sink and drop your meat, fish or poultry into the water. The meat, poultry and fish should remain in the water for the "2 minute" period displayed on the display. Once the display reads "end", drain the water from the meat and begin preparation. Note: It is very important to thoroughly wash and rinse your soak bowl and lid to avoid cross contamination. The lotus® is self-cleaning, so wash the bowl and lid thoroughly, then fill with cold clean water and run a second cycle of plain water. The second cycle cleans, sanitizes and disinfects your bowl for future use. Tip: You can use the water from the second cycle to water your plants or disinfect your sink. The other alternative is to process a spray bottle of cold tap water. Once the cycle has reached the end, remove the spray bottle and thoroughly spray the meats. The super oxygenated water in the spray bottle will kill any contamination on contact, when sprayed on the meats.
  28. I received lotus® Cleaning Cloths in the box, how do I wash this product?
The lotus® Cleaning Cloths may be washed and reused up to 300 times. The lotus® cleaning cloths may be washed at a water temperature, which does not exceed 95°F, on a regular cycle separately or with no lint items. It is important to wash frequently. The lotus® cleaning cloths may be dried on a tumble dry cycle at any heat. Do not iron or bleach.
  29. What is the material content of the lotus® Cleaning Cloths?
The lotus® Cleaning Cloths are made of 70% Polyester and 30% Polymide.
  30. How do I use the lotus® Cleaning Cloths?
The lotus® Cleaning Cloths may be used dry for dusting T.V. screens, furniture, lamps, knick knacks, pictures & windows, counter tops, appliances or car interiors. Please use caution when using the lotus® cleaning cloths dry, as the cloth itself does not scratch; however it may pick up substances that do. It is important before usage to test inconspicuous areas first. The lotus® cleaning cloths may be used damp for tough jobs, such as grease cutting or tough dried-on messes and it performs without chemicals. Even use it to clean your windows; wet to wipe and a dry one to remove the streaks. You will be amazed.
  31. What is the life expectancy of the lotus® Cleaning Cloths?
The lotus® cleaning cloths life expectancy is up to 300 cycles. It is important to wash the lotus® cleaning cloths frequently and they may be washed and reused up to 300 cycles.
  32. What's the difference between sanitizing and disinfecting?
Any solid surface can be either sanitized or disinfected. Disinfecting kills a larger proportion of germs. Generally, non-food surfaces are disinfected; food preparation surfaces are sanitized. In general to disinfect a surface, use a disinfecting solution of liquid bleach after removing visible dirt (3/4-cup liquid bleach per gallon of water). To sanitize a surface, wash first with hot soapy water, rinse, then clean with a sanitizing solution of liquid bleach. The lotus® Sanitizing System achieves sanitizing and disinfecting at the press of a button.

The F1 Function Code is a perfectly normal code. It is designed to let you the consumer know whatever you are processing in the bowl, such as fruits or vegetables, possess high levels of contaminants. In which case the items you are processing require more contact time with the super-oxygenated water in order to disinfect to the 99.9% level. During processing you may notice that the percentage slows down during processing, in order to increase the contact time with the super-oxygenated water and enable the system to help remove the contaminants from what you are processing. We recommend draining the water out of the bowl, after each F1 code, refilling with fresh water and re-processing the items/produce, thus giving more contact time for the ozone to counteract stubborn contaminants and ensure the 99.9% sanitizing level.

However, in some cases the cause of the F1 code could even be tap water with high levels of contaminants. It may be necessary to use purified, filtered or bottled water.

Therefore the questions are:

Have you ever reached 100%?
Have you ever reached 100% with just water?

If you have never reached 100% even with the spray bottle attachment (using only water), I have a sure way to determine whether it is your tap water or not:

  1. Try processing a Spray bottle of purified, filtered or bottled water.
  2. If it reaches 100% it means that the previous water you have been using is contaminated, and it may be necessary to use purified, filtered or bottled water.
  3. If it gives you an F1 pour the water from the Spray Bottle and refill with purified, filtered or bottled water.
  4. If the system gives a second F1 code, please contact Tersano customer care via email or phone at 1-800-808-1724.

If you have not been able to reach 100% with the bowl attachment when processing items in the bowl, such as fruits or vegetables, then the items may have high levels of contaminants, such as pesticides. At which point we advise you to follow the following instructions and tips in order to lower your chances of experiencing the F1 code:

  1. Drain the water out of the attachment, rinse the item (lightly hand scrubbing them) and refill with fresh cold water. Place on the base and begin the cycle again.
  2. Remember to rinse your fruits and vegetables before processing them. This removes coarse contaminants such as dirt.
  3. Try and keep your produce whole, as the unit sees the juices from the fruits or vegetables as a contaminant.
  4. It is not necessary to overfill bowl with water (fill enough to cover vegetables and fruits and ensure there is good circulation around them).
  5. Ensure the attachment is firmly on the unit, by pressing down on the attachment once it is on the unit.
  6. Fill the Bowl 1/2 full with produce and fill to the max fill line with water, as you want to ensure good circulation around the items you are processing in order to effectively remove contaminants.
  7. If you have to process something that doesn't fit, such as a head of lettuce, then we recommend cutting it in half. Otherwise use the spray bottle attachment to spray large item down, or put items in a separate bowl and pour the processed water over them and let it sit for 2 minutes (which is what we recommend to do with meats and seafood).
  8. There are some fruits and vegetables, which are highly contaminated and may require multiple cycles. Our experience has show that strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and grapes are the most common fruits, which cause multiple F1 codes. If by the third cycle you are still experiencing an F1, we recommend leaving the fruits or vegetables in the water for 2 to 5 minutes and then thoroughly drain them. The system may have removed between 90 to 99% of the contaminants after the third cycle.
  9. In certain situations, we recommend to run a spray bottle with purified, filtered or bottled water to clean the sensors and the unit and then proceed to run the items in your bowl. Sometimes the sensor can get dirty and the plain water in a cycle will clean it up.

If you follow these tips and you continue to experience the F1 code, or if you have further questions or concerns, do not hesitate to contact us at 1-800-808-1724 and we will be glad to assist you.
